Bernie Sanders doesn’t want Christians in government

In June of 2017, a Trump administration appointee named Russell Vought faced congressional hearings prior to his approval for the deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. In spite of that Mr. Vought’s hearings should have been as dry as the office he was appointed to, Senator Bernie Sanders decided to engage in a quite totalitarian anti-Christian religious litmus test:

Note the open hostility from Sanders. What he did here wasn’t just merely hypocritical; he took a steaming dump on Middle America, their faith, and the faith of the founders of the United States. He did not accept repeated assurances from Vought that he believes in treating everyone with dignity. That wasn’t enough. He had a view of salvation that upset Sanders:

Vought: Thank you for probing on that question. As a Christian, I believe that all individuals are made in the image of God and are worthy of dignity and respect regardless of their religious beliefs. I believe that as a Christian that’s how I should treat all individuals . . .

Sanders: You think your statement that you put into that publication, they do not know God because they rejected Jesus Christ, His Son, and they stand condemned, do you think that’s respectful of other religions?

Vought: Senator, I wrote a post based on being a Christian and attending a Christian school that has a statement of faith that speaks clearly in regard to the centrality of Jesus Christ in salvation.

Sanders: I would simply say, Mr. Chairman, that this nominee is really not someone who this country is supposed to be about.

Indeed the United States of America was founded by men that shared the same Christian views as Vought and expressed them in government documents. From the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness… And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”


Sanders doubled-down in the days after this interview. His spokesman stated,

“In a democratic society, founded on the principle of religious freedom, we can all disagree over issues, but racism and bigotry—condemning an entire group of people because of their faith—cannot be part of any public policy… who has expressed such strong Islamaphobic language.”

All the while Sanders himself just condemned this man – and tens of millions like him – on account of their faith, which clearly should be public policy in the eyes of Bernie, as long as the right faith is the one being condemned. Sanders violated his own claimed standards here and of course, very few in the media pointed it out.

Sanders didn’t bother to offer federal laws or USSC rulings on the prohibition of a Bible-believing Christian from holding office because the faith doesn’t meet a postmodern pluralist double standard which members of other faiths aren’t subject to in congressional hearings because no such laws exist, thereby invalidating Sanders’ claim that his personal spin of America’s “founding principle” justifies his stance.

This is about Bernie Sanders and his personal bigotries and that was Bernie trying to wrap his anti-Christian discrimination in the flag.

Sanders has a clearly deep and abiding hatred of Middle America and Christianity and it’s especially obvious in light of that neither he nor anyone on the political left has ever subjected a Muslim or a Jew to such treatment in any setting let alone in a confirmation hearing and would blow their corks if a person subjected a Muslim or a Jew to the treatment Sanders displayed here. Islam has a very my-way-or-highway teaching on salvation, but that doesn’t seem to trouble Bernie:

Quran 3:85 “And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.”

Quran (3:10) – “(As for) those who disbelieve, surely neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them in the least against Allah, and these it is who are the fuel of the fire.”

Quran 10:103 “Then We will save our messengers and those who have believed. Thus, it is an obligation upon Us that We save the believers.”

Quran 41:30 “Indeed, those who have said, ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remained on a right course – the angels will descend upon them, [saying] ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but receive the good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.”

Quran 47:11 “That is because Allah is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector.”

Quran 3:131 “And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.”

Quran 2:104 “O you who have believed, and say not [to Allah’s Messenger], ‘Ra’ina’ but say, ‘Unthurna’ and listen. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.”

Quran 19:60 “Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all.”

The Quran on unbelievers:

Quran 5:51 “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”

Quran 5:80 “You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide.”

Quran 3:28 “Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them…”

Quran 53:29 “Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.”

Quran 4:101 “And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the prayer, [especially] if you fear that those who disbelieve may disrupt [or attack] you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy.”

Quran 8:12-13 “[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, ‘I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip. That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger, indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.”

Quran 9:5 “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.”

Quran 9:29  “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

The “People of the Book” are Christians and Jews, aka, the people of the Bible.

Quran 9:30 “And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”

Quran 9:73 “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.”

Quran 9:123 “O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness.”

Quran 25:52 “Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness with it.”

Quran 47:3-4 “That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allah present to the people their comparisons. So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds.”

So what we have are questions for Bernie as to why Islam’s my-way-or-the-highway teachings on salvation coupled with instruction to commit acts of violence against unbelievers aren’t phobic or bigoted and aren’t worthy of concern, discussion or cause for the exclusion of Muslim government appointees on the grounds those teachings violate postmodern secular mores and insult non-Muslims.

Insert crickets.

This just proves Sanders’ wrath isn’t about faiths that teach hell for unbelievers. This is about one such faith – Christianity. Bernie Sanders clearly attempted to couch his hatred of Christianity (and by extension, Christians) behind false moral bluster about pluralism and phobia. Sanders made a very weak and transparent excuse to exclude and deny an appointment to a man because he’s a Bible-believing Christian.

This had nothing to do with Christianity’s faith-for-salvation teaching. He invented that objection as a pretext to attempt to block the nomination of a Bible-believing Christian.

It’s quite clear that Sanders wants to remake the country in his image and rejects what this country has been about all along. If people such as Sanders are not happy with the ethnocultural fabric of the United States – and Sanders has a track record of open hostility to the faith of the American founding majority – then there is a simple solution which doesn’t involve tearing down the country’s culture or rewriting its history to manipulate the beliefs and behavior of Americans.

Simply leave. Don’t attack and tear down. Leave.

But radical leftists like Sanders intentionally remain as subversives biding for the time when they can take control and tear down, then rebuild in their image. The New Left is very much like the Borg collective from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It assimilates what it finds useful and destroys the rest, leaving the few survivors forced into the hive mind collective where they live lacking independent being, their thoughts formed by their leader.

In light of that Islam has similar faith-exclusive teachings of salvation that Christianity has has never resulted in Sanders, or any other liberal for that matter, for voting against or otherwise calling for Muslims to be excluded from governmental appointments due to their faith let alone labeling their presence as a threat. So this isn’t remotely about having a religion that teaches our-way-or-the-highway, but rather that this person was a Christian (and yes, don’t think that his being a white male wasn’t part of it) that holds true to Biblical teaching on salvation. Sanders is hostile to the presence of specifically Christians in government who are loyal to Biblical teachings, not because of how they may act, but simply by their beliefs alone.

We all know what would have ensued if a Republican Senator had such a hostile, disrespectful exchange with a Muslim at the end of which he declared the appointee isn’t fit for office because of his adherence to Quran-compliant religious views.

And yes, the ACLU backed Sanders with a very Orwellian press release:

The ACLU stated in its final paragraph after blasting the nomination due to the religious views of the appointee,

As a matter of organizational policy, the ACLU does not take positions supporting or opposing cabinet nominees. The ACLU does, however, provide context on the nominees’ civil liberties records for the public and Congress.

In that, the ACLU violated its own “rules” by blasting Vought for his faith in the very same article:

“Religious freedom is such a fundamental liberty that the framers of our Constitution enshrined it in the First Amendment. That’s why it’s so disturbing that Trump continues to pack his administration with appointees like Russell Vought, whose views threaten that very freedom.

“Trump’s nominee for this powerful position that helps decide how federal money is spent has claimed that ‘Muslims do not simply have a deficient theology. They do not know God because they have rejected Jesus Christ his Son, and they stand condemned.’

“We know that diversity is one of our nation’s greatest strengths, and it is vitally important that Americans have confidence that their public servants will serve our entire nation in good faith. That’s why we will watch Vought closely and press to ensure that those helping decide how public money is spent and the government is managed understand the vital importance of nondiscrimination.”

Someone at the ACLU has been doing copious amounts of strong narcotics if they think the very Constitution they claim to love wasn’t in fact written by people like Russell Vought. One’s personal views on salvation due to the teachings of their scriptures does not “violate” the freedoms of others. Remember: This is the “American Civil Liberties Union” writing this. They’re saying that belief in salvation requiring Christ is a civil liberties issue which renders the believer a threat.

Does the ACLU ever state that it’s going to “watch closely” Muslim or Jewish presidential appointees? Never.

This is a form of religious persecution and ideological cleansing.
